Prescriptions refills are handled by notifying your pharmacist who will contact our office for authorization during business hours or you may request refills at your appointment. Only life sustaining medications will be filled after hours in small quantities. We are unable to refill prescriptions for patients not seen within the past year. Twenty-four hours are necessary for all written prescriptions that require a physician signature. OFFICE POLICY IS THAT NARCOTIC PRESCRIPTIONS ARE FILLED ONLY DURING REGULAR OFFICE HOURS AND BY PRESCRIPTION ONLY. THE PHYSICIAN ON CALL WILL NOT REFILL PRESCRIPTIONS FOR NARCOTIC DRUGS. To best utilize your time and our staff's time we request that prescriptions be obtained at your appointment. If this is not possible or a prescription has been overlooked, we prefer that your pharmacy call for a refill. We request that you provide us with ample time to complete the request for a written prescription. We request at least 24 hours. Your physician may not be in the office or available to sign a requested prescription. If an emergency exists and a prescription is needed the same day, please call to determine if we have a physician available to sign the prescription and if we can accommodate your request. Please do not "drop in" and expect that a prescription be completed while you wait. We strive to give patients that are scheduled for an appointment our undivided attention. Please also be reminded that our policy is to NOT authorize prescriptions if you have not been seen in our office in the past year. We also do not fill prescriptions on weekends, evenings, or holidays. Please plan ahead. We do not have patient information available when we are away from the office. If you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact us. |
